DHL just arrived with this gem and another prototype (yeah yeah it's a test shot) that I'll put photos of up soon. Quick plug, the regular version of Groove is available to preorder here.
One of the nice touches about Groove is the kick stand of the bike so it can be posed in bike mode without falling over, sure it's a small thing but it's a very nice touch.
I've not been a bit fan of Combiner Wars in general although there have been some very cool figures along the way but it's hard to not like Groove a lot.
The back tyre on the testshot doesn't like staying together but I think that's just a testshot issue. As with any pre-production toy, trying to transform it without pictures is challenging and it really isn't wise to force any parts so I'm happy to leave it with the gap
Bike Transformers usually suck due to the lack of bike mass and this almost always results in spindly legs but Groove has a transformation that I absolutely love.
The bottom half of the leg splits apart and swings down to tab back together to form the legs. Groove being a police bike with the chunkier back end definitely helps here.
The robot mode has the big combiner port in the chest which looks a little wheel like so I guess it fits but the figure is still pretty sweet. Again it is probably a pre-production issue but the shoulders were incredibly tight and needed to be supported while being turned as it seemed pretty easy to snap the joint here.
Groove is incredibly poseable as you'd expect from a Combiner Wars release.
He can almost do Maz's 'The Run' pose but then I can't get any damn figure to pose that way. Do for now here's 'The Waddle'.
For some scale here is the Combiner Wars deluxe Groove with Generations deluxe Bumblebee which again is a test shot simply as it was to hand.
Overall the general release is not going to be a cheap figure for most people to get due to its very limited nature and the horrific exchange rate if you live in the UK but he's definitely worth getting for that proper G1 feel to your Protectobots team.
